Color & tone references
Make small visual adjustments. Keep the reference on screen while using your monitor’s own controls.
Neutral RGB patches · Look for a color cast or uneven tint across the panel.
You should distinguish adjacent steps. A smooth ramp can reveal visible banding.
Gamma comparison above · RGB code values below. Small near-black differences may be hard to see.
White · Yellow · Cyan · Green · Magenta · Red · Blue
Use 100% browser zoom. Switch references above; fullscreen removes page distractions.
How to check
- Turn off Night Shift, Night Light and other warm-tint modes for a neutral reference. Let the display settle.
- Start with white balance and grayscale. Adjust brightness and color temperature gently using the display’s controls.
- For gamma, step back or slightly defocus your eyes. Compare the solid patches with the fine black-and-white pattern, then inspect the contrast steps.
Know the limits
A browser-based visual aid is not hardware colorimeter calibration. This tool does not measure ΔE, white-point temperature, gamut or a color profile.
The gamma pattern is only a rough comparison. Pixel scaling, device pixel ratio, browser zoom, HDR and color management can alter it. The listed values are nominal power-law references, not measured gamma.
A useful question
Can this make my monitor color-accurate?
It can help reveal obvious issues and guide comfortable settings. Color-critical work needs a suitable colorimeter and a managed calibration workflow.
